By CRAIG HALL
Welcome to the blog of Craig. I am Craig Hall, Heavener Ledger publisher, writer, photographer and voted the favorite paper deliverer to home addresses in the city of Heavener proper.
Today is June 18, the 168th day of the year, if you are keeping score at home and aren’t we all. There are 196 days left in 2022.
Please check out our daily newsletter at www.heavenerledger.substack.com. Subscriptions are only $5 a month and each morning you get our newsletter with exclusive content. This is our free Friday edition so guess what? All the content is free.

Today’s big news is Khloe’s ninth, yes, ninth, birthday party is planned for the Hall hacienda for today. I must finish mowing, clear up the patio and more before my grill duties kick in. Hot dogs and the burgs are on the menu, at least my part. Trish the wife will probably make macaroni for the little ones, I about said monsters, but caught myself.
This picture is of a younger Craig that I ran across. I love my parents and wish they were still around for a lot of reasons, but I would really like to ask a couple of questions. First, is what were you thinking allowing me to go out in public with this outfit on? Second, I hope you burned the hat. I credit my baldness as punishment for once wearing this ugly hat.
I got a new paid of glasses roughly a year ago. Yesterday, as you can see, the part of the glasses that goes above my ear came loose.
I went to the Dollar General, sorry, Dollar General Market in Heavtown and got not one, but two kits to work on glasses. Then, I spent hours trying to fix them with no luck. My optometrist is off Friday so I have to wait all weekend.
Fortunately, I still had my pair of glasses from before, but they mess up my head. I tried taping the new glasses together, but looked even dorkier than usual. I wore the old glasses for several years. No problem. They must not make them like they used to make glasses.
We did a poll on heavenerledger.com asking if it should be allowed to shoot fireworks inside the city limits or if yes, limit them to like 10 p.m. since the older coots like myself need beauty sleep badly. Please let us know what you think. It probably won’t amount to a hill of beans, but it will be interesting.
Mick LaFevers was nice enough to share an article about internet problems in rural areas and Heavener was mentioned in the article. Here is the link: Why Rural Americans Keep Waiting for Fast Internet
https://wallstreetjournal-ny.newsmemory.com/?publink=5685cd6f5_13484ec
. It even included a picture of Eddie Nelson in the article.
I will believe we will get better internet when we get it. It is listed as a priority, but improvements are rare. Dobson is great, but is only for commercial buildings. I use Windstream and a Verizon LTE for my internet services. The Verizon LTE is okay, but does have to be rebooted occasionally for some reason.
I have started work on building a website for the City of Heavener. Serious. And I am not charging $5,000 a month for the website, which was done previously. It will simply be www.cityofheavener.com, but I have not done anything with it yet.
Thank you again for the visit and please share this with anybody you think might be interested. We also hope you have a great day and an excellent weekend.
