Welcome to today’s blog. I’m the Heavener Ledger publisher, writer, photographer and generally good guy.
Today is June 21, the 171st day of the year and first day of summer. There are 193 days left in 2022.
If you like our blog, please share with anybody you think might be interested. If you don’t care for it, let’s just keep that between us, tell us why and I will try to do better next time. This blog is free, so sign up for a subscription and get a new one whenever I write one.
These were the speakers at our political meet and greet from last night. Dennis Yochum also spoke, but was not in attendance when the picture was taken. Pictured are David Chapman, Jamie Ollar, Deana McGee, Bucky Pugh and Kevin Wiles.
We had a decent crowd. The video from the event can be seen HERE.
Overall, I felt like it was a good event as there was a decent crowd and no fistfights broke out. Early voting is Thursday and Friday at the LeFlore County Election Board office in Poteau. The actual primary election is June 28 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
We will bring you live coverage of the results starting at around 8 p.m. In the past, we have always just posted the results on social media or our website, but this time we just might do a live stream if people can stand looking at my ugly mud for a few hours.
I used to report from the election board office in Poteau, but service there is terrible so I will monitor the returns from info released by the state election board.
Our pool is up and running for the moment. I had to make a quick trip to Fort Smith yesterday and it is apparently working right. That could change at any second, though.
This is our put the paper together and get it ready to be sent to the printer day today. I haven’t got that ready, but the paper might be a little bigger than normal because of the political advertising. The only problem is there just is not much going on so my content is lacking. We will figure it out somehow and someway.
We start working on the next week’s paper as soon as the previous one is put to bed and built it up until it is time for the next paper. It’s like putting together a puzzle, which should be easier after all this time, but it isn’t. Fortunately we have good help, just need more.
Stay cool as it is going to get hot over the next few days and the humidity is a booger, a big one at that. It’s a combo of the heat and humidity and feels like a sauna outside. I’m just glad the yard is mowed and presentable. Plus, Trish the wife did not want a tomato bed this year so that saves a little time and trouble. Now, if we could just figure out what we can do with the little kittens. I am trying not to get attached to them, but every time they see me now, they come up and want petted or held. And they are cute, also, as kittens tend to be until they start breeding like rabbits.
